Dont worry. you haven't exceeded the makemodel.exe limits, but you exceeded the x-file export plugin limits. Theres a quite simple workaround to compiling such big mdls.
First, get and install mdlcommander and middleman (at Chris File's site FFDS) so you can have ascii text x files after the compilation process.
Second: "Split" your gmax project into two files (one with fuselage and gear, the other with wings and engines for example).
Third: Compile both into separate mdls, keeping the x-files alive.
Fourth: (and now comes the "tricky" part.) Take a look into one of these x-files.
Except for the header, there are three major sections:
now copy/paste the sections from x-file A into x-file B. Pay attention to paste the sections within the same main brackets. Your x-file B contains now the entire model and can be compiled into a mdl by using the original makemodel.exe.
That procedure worked fine with my new An124.
feel free to email me if you have special questions
