Elevator and Rudder Control Cables, Made Easy
Posted by Dennis S on Monday, 16 December 2002, at 9:42 a.m.
Hello, All,
This may be old hat to many, but I recently stumbled on it. The idea expands on an earlier Tip of mine concerning animated control cables.
Using the easy (non-key-frame) name conventions, i.e., r_elevator, etc., you see the animation in FS2002 but not in GMax. This makes alignment of control cables to control horns rather hit-and-miss iterative.
However, I've learned that there's nothing wrong with giving the elevator a key-frame name, i.e., lever_fore_aft_right_elevator, say, and animating its movement yourself. Then the alignment of control cable to horn is straightforward.
I haven't sensed any downside to this as yet.
All in good fun. -- Dennis S, FSEngEd@aol.com
